?? What is GMC Super Cruise? (launched 2017)
Announced in 2013, tested until 2016, and finally launched in 2017 on Cadillac CT6. Today, Super Cruise is available across the entire GMC lineup. It’s a true hands-free driver assistance system for mapped divided highways.
Four core components work together:
- ??? GPS + real-time kinematics – pinpoints vehicle position within inches.
- ??? LiDAR mapped highways – pre-scanned roads (I-5, I-80, I-99, etc.) stored in cloud & vehicle.
- ?? Camera & radar – detects lane lines, vehicles, and road curves.
- ?? Driver attention camera – infrared camera monitors head/eye position; ensures driver is alert.
?? Important: Super Cruise is NOT full self-driving. It’s a Level 2 hands-free system for highways. You must supervise and be ready to take over at any time.
